In Hugo's paragliding bag
If you have seen my profile, you may have seen that I am not used to long-distance flights.
In fact, my favorite discipline in paragliding is aerobatics (consists of putting my head upside down with my paraglider).
Worthy of a Ninja Turtle
Variometer,
It is a small instrument characterized by its beep-beep when I climb in thermals (warm air mass that allows us to climb).
This instrument is mainly used by paragliders who do cross-country flying.
Water bottle,
I try to drink and take breaks during my training sessions, even if it's not easy when you're passionate and the conditions are perfect, but tendonitis comes on very quickly.
Tips to avoid boredom
Veil,
My paraglider is a wing designed differently from others, it is more energetic, smaller than normal and it can withstand strong centrifugal forces.
I mainly use it for doing tricks, but also for playing on the ground or by the sea like in Australia.
Saddle,
The harness is the “bag” I sit in.
It was designed specifically for aerobatics. It can hold two reserves and is equipped with a large foam cushion to absorb shock if I were to impact on landing.
The clothes
The weather obviously influences my choice of clothing. I usually fly when the weather is nice, but up there you quickly lose temperature.
Also, I take shorts and pants with me and I choose the one that will be the most optimal for my flights upon takeoff. I also have a sweater, a buff, a cap, and a jacket.
All these clothes must offer me the greatest comfort and allow me a good range of movements to facilitate the performance of acrobatic figures.
I find all these quality criteria in the clothing range from Looking for Wild, of course.
Accessories that aren't so accessories!
Rescue x2
In acro I have two reserves, they are simply used to save my life if necessary.
They are folded in a very precise way and attached to a Velcro handle on the harness.
In my harness, I therefore have two types of reserve.
The main one is a "rogallo", it has the advantage of being steerable, having a low sink rate but also a quick opening. However, it has the disadvantage of sometimes being able to open "twisted" that is to say that the straps that attach me to it, will be upside down and that I will not be able to steer it or will be able to steer it badly. It is also more expensive than normal reserves.
The second reserve, or Plan B, is my chance of survival if the first one fails to open. It's round, the most common reserve in the paragliding world, and has the advantage of being less expensive and just as effective. However, it will determine where I land.
Repair kit
For my trip to Australia, I created a small repair kit with needles, fabric and lines to make a repair on the spot.
Helmet
Of course, the helmet is first and foremost essential for safety. My helmet also serves as a mount for my GoPro camera.
For the pleasure of the eyes but not only!
Gopro,
My GoPro camera and pole are always in my harness. I use them primarily to film all my workouts. This is to have a visual record of all my training sessions for the video debriefing I automatically create after each session.
The second function is to take you with me when I take beautiful pictures in flight.
